Portrait of Maxime Amore

Maxime Amore

AI Engineer · Full-stack developer · 8 years of experience

Since 2016 I've been building web products end to end: architecture, code and shipping to production. Today at Sapiologie, I work on a life-cycle assessment tool for industrial companies. The job has changed shape: I design the systems and orchestrate the AIs that build them.

🚆 Originally from the Paris area, settled in Strasbourg for the quality of life. Available anywhere in France, I travel by train and low-carbon transport.

Career

2023

Sapiologie · Senior fullstack developer

Jul 2023 → now · 3 yrs + Fully remote - Biarritz

Tech stack

  • Elixir
  • Phoenix LiveView
  • Tailwind
  • Claude Code

The contextSapiologie was just starting when I arrived and wanted to bring an environmental and economic analysis tool to market. The goal came down to three requirements that are hard to reconcile: ergonomic, secure, and able to hold up at industrial scale.

What I broughtThe role called for a lot of autonomy: going after the work rather than waiting for it, on development as much as on architecture. Working closely with the product team, I designed a large share of the features that now sit at the core of the application, the ones that built Sapiologie's reputation and let it scale up into a reference platform in its market. I led the ISO 27001 compliance work, and I was a driving force in adopting AI: processes that genuinely speed up development and make working with agents effective, without leaving technical debt behind. Having joined early, I also trained the developers who came after me.

2022

Matters · Web application engineer

Apr → Nov 2022 · 8 months Fully remote - Paris

Tech stack

  • React
  • NextJS
  • GraphQL
  • PostgreSQL

The contextAn agency specialising in modern web applications. I was hired on the project management and technical lead side, to help steer the development teams and put structure back where it was missing.

What I broughtI moved fairly quickly into project manager and lead developer on the agency's flagship project: an ageing codebase, and plenty of bad habits to unwind. I also worked on a React and NextJS application for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Project management in a consultancy calls for a specific set of skills, and it wasn't the direction I wanted my career to take.

2020

Iceboard · Fullstack web developer

Oct 2020 → Sept 2021 · 1 year Paris, Village by CA

Tech stack

  • React
  • React Native
  • NodeJS
  • MeteorJS

The contextIceboard had recently joined the Village by CA incubator and I was the first employee. The team was building a crisis management solution for large corporate clients, a field where anything approximate shows immediately.

What I broughtThe foundations this kind of product stands or falls on: systems security with two-factor authentication, application performance, and test coverage.
The work was demanding and called for real precision: with large corporate clients, deliverables had to be flawless in terms of UI/UX as much as performance and security.

2019

Capio · Co-founder

Sept 2019 → Feb 2022 · 2 years 6 monthsFully remote - Paris

Tech stack

  • NodeJS
  • ReactJS
  • MongoDB
  • DevOps

The contextBeing around the founders at Station F, together with the entrepreneurship track of my computer engineering studies at ESGI, made me want to launch my own project, with Clément Mouret, an economics and management teacher, on the commercial side. Two hats in parallel for two and a half years: all of the engineering on one side, communication and marketing on the other.

What I broughtCapio was an app helping young people land their first contract: apprenticeship, internship, fixed-term or permanent. I poured into it everything I was learning at school as I learned it: from product design to web and mobile development, through to DevOps and infrastructure, then marketing and communication. I also built the business model on two legs: a B2C freemium offer for the app's users, and a B2B "recruitment agency 2.0" side, where we short-listed candidates for our clients' interviews and partnered with schools and agencies under the French 1jeune1solution scheme.
We finished as finalists of the EngrainaGES entrepreneurship competition (GES network), but what I am proudest of is having grown a community of 25,000 students, with an infrastructure run end to end and partnerships built with big names in education: OpenClassrooms, La Relève, Studi.

2018

Folhomee · Fullstack web developer

Apr 2018 → Sept 2020 · 2 years 6 months Paris, Station F - Remote

Tech stack

  • JavaScript
  • NodeJS
  • ReactJS
  • MongoDB
  • Redis

The contextFirst employee and first developer, hired at the same time as Julien Pouillard, the CTO. The ambition, from Station F: bring together every property listing in France, first on a Messenger chatbot (very much the trend back then), then in a mobile app, in near real time.

What I broughtAutomated listing collection across a whole estate of property agencies. Every source had its own structure, its own limits and its own quirks: real resourcefulness was needed to find, case by case, the most reliable and most efficient route in, leaning where possible on the structured data feeds already powering those sites rather than on crawling / scraping.
Behind that, several million listings across France had to hold up, with location detection precise down to the neighbourhood and largely automated systems maintenance so the whole thing ran in real time without constant supervision. I also contributed to the internal real-time data monitoring tools and to the mobile app, and trained several developers on internships and apprenticeships in web development.
